Our Preschool’s Mission

Iao Preschool is a place where a child can develop positive self-image as he/she grows as a whole person. We joyfully take up the challenge Jesus presented to us when he set a child in the midst of his disciples as an example. We provide a community of support to parents as their children develop as healthy, thoughtful, responsible, spiritual individuals. Iao Preschool is one way that Iao United Church of Christ proclaims the good news of God’s love for all people as it meets the need for safe, quality, preschool education in Central Maui.

Why?

We believe we have a responsibility to proclaim the good news of God’s love that we have experienced in Jesus Christ. We share that love with our community by providing a safe and healthy learning environment for children and a community of support for their parents

What?

Iao Preschool strives to develop the whole child in his/her emotional, social, cognitive, physical and spiritual growth. Children are happy to come to school, to develop social skills, and to learn. Parents are supported through special events so they may feel good about the ways they participate in their child’s development.

Who?

We serve 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, nationality or economic status. The staff and members of Iao UCC participate actively in ways that support and enhance the Iao Preschool staff and program.

How?

Iao Preschool is incorporated under Iao United Church of Christ. An Iao Preschool Team comprised of Iao UCC members hires staff, sets policies, and oversees the operations of the Preschool. The Iao Preschool Team is appointed in accordance with the By-Laws and policies of Iao UCC and is accountable to the congregation through the Church Council. The church congregation is invited to participate in the programs offered by Iao Preschool.
